Appointed Official Provider in the category of "freight forwarding & customs clearance"

March 4th, 2004 -- A strategic agreement was signed today between Schenker AG's Greek subsidiary, Schenker A.E., and the Athens 2004 Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (ATHOC). Schenker effectively became Official Provider of the ATHENS 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Schenker AG, a member of Germany's Stinnes AG holding company, has already signed a long-term Suppliership Agreement with the IOC on June 13th last year as an Official Supplier to the International Olympic Committee for freight forwarding and customs clearance for the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games in Athens (ATHOC), the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin (TOROC) and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing (BOCOG).

Furthermore, Schenker A.E. has set up an excellent working relationship with ATHENS 2004 for almost two years. The company has built up a dedicated office to provide its services to ATHENS 2004 as from the beginning of 2003. The international Schenker Olympic team is experienced and provides the highest quality services in the operational activities of freight forwarding and customs clearance.

At the contract signing ceremony in Athens, Mr. Spanudakis said: "The provision of such services for the Olympic Games is an enormous challenge. The ATHENS 2004 Organising Committee for the Olympic Games is delighted to have signed this agreement with Schenker who will now be our Official Provider supporting the Olympic Supply to the full extent of freight forwarding and customs clearance services."

On behalf of Schenker A.E., Mr. Horn said: "The provider sponsorship agreement with ATHENS 2004 signed today is a landmark in the history of Schenker A.E., and it is an honour of which we are extremely proud. It represents a huge challenge and places us under an obligation to turn in our very best performance."
